Suikoden 5

whoo. now i've done it again. bah. innocently picked up suikoden 5 and thinking that it'd probably not take more than a day to finish, seeing that the cover doesn't have much of a die-die-also-cannot-finish look on it. bah. but never mind. i'm here to praise the game, not speak of my stupidity. bah.

well, i've skipped suikoden 4 along the way, but it doesn't seem to affect the story progression, coz i guess they're all independent of one another, except for some history, which would probably kill everyone, so i won't be dabbling into that. rights. hmm, as i said, the cover din really impress me, so the only reason i bought it would be because of its name. right.

the soundtrack does impress though, the songs used help to bring the mood about and aid in the smoothness of the story. i have to say, the music used is really superb, it brings the entire game to life, coz in suikoden 3, i think the music wasn't enough, and hence made the game feel rather dead...

the play system is rather the same as suikoden 3, as it is with all other suikoden games. the battle system didn't really change much, so it's quite easy to manipulate. the art of suikoden 5 is rather good, though i prefer that of suikoden 3, coz of the bright colours used and the up-close camera views of the characters. the camera viewpoint of suikoden 5 seems rather far and might not feel as close to the character as in suikoden 3. hmm, i have to say, the play system in suikoden 3 was quite a good idea, having to play the story from all 3 characters point of view, but it got rather dry, coz it's basically the same story over and over again, so i guess that was remedied in suikoden 5.

one big change i noticed was the the main character is really the player. well, that's how RPG are supposed to be right, but this one really states it right. coz all that the 'hero' does or say are decided by the player (me!!) hohoz, though it might not really change the flow of the story, it does help to make the 'hero' more 'personalized'. rather interesting, coz the player would decide the development of the hero and well, at the end of the game, you could say u've gotten ur very own hero.

well, i'm not even close to that yet, being only in my 1st 10 hours of play, this game looked rather dry to me. no side stories (otherwise, they're weren't fully developed) no mini-games yet, no major wars or anything interesting. for now, i'm just being initiated into the plot, running errands and basically being under the thumb of my dear 'queen'. sighs. the hero feels bullied. but one thing i have to say, is that the political aspect of the game has really really thickened much more. i can't say i like it very much. bah. many of the things are beyond control so it can be rather irritating at times, coz i ain't a politics fan.

well, i do hope the story will progress with more interesting stuff to do, and a nicer wardrobe for my prince if possible. coz he's been wearing that same orange shirt with white pants day in day out. and perhaps a change of clothes for the other people too. bahs. on the whole, i think suikoden 5 resembles suikoden 2 more than suikoden 3, but it is convient now that i have a personal bodyguard who rarely leaves my back, so i can ask her where the heck to go. it's one plus point about this game as compared to in suikoden 3 in which i never knew where to go. hohoz, i want more boss battles, they really liven up the game. hopefully, that will soon be true.

NEW NEW Kindaichi

dots. the new new kindaichi has hit the shelves!!! a bit the late only lorh...i saw it like last yr, in jap. hoho. well, the author hinted in this book that he'd probably be reviving the kindaichi series, so watch out, all u fake detectives. hoho. hoho. hoho. hehe, obviously i'm happy rights...

the most important point is that...TAKAKO YOICHI is the mastermind behind kindaichi's sudden decision to leave town. hoho. that means a few more goooodddd stories with one very interesting baddie. whee hee...i love the characters. and tat means the continuation of Akechi Kenjo's appearance!!! whee!!! so many good things to celebrate. lalala.

but i guess it's kinda sad, coz this work was done after Tantei Gakuen Q, which was slightly more childish in character, so the art of this new book was affected in a sense. Kindaichi had a rather 'mature' or adult feeling to it all this while, so it seemed rather weird that the drawings are slightly kiddish now. o well, i ain't complaining so long as they give me my manga. hoho.

o yar. i just discovered this newww manga, Vampire Knights. rather cliche name, but well, nice art, interesting story. well, it's really the drawings which attracted my hand to it. coz the guys were really really pretty. and i mean bishounen pretty. hoho. wonderful. at first the story seemed lame and dull, but with the second installment, things started to pick up a bit. more about the characters and their past are revealed and yar, in other words, it got interesting lah.

sigh. i was thinking of reading Emma but i guess the Anime looks nicer in art and design. bah. that means i have to wait long long long for it. bah. no big surprise. bah. why the publisher sooo sloww...bahha...i'm dried up liaoz...dies...bah.

fine, i was probably too pissed to post anything for like 13 days plus, either that or i was too tired. bah.

well, there isn't much to report, coz a lot of stuff hasn't arrived on the shelves yet. o well, but i did finish up my Spiral anime. whoo hoo. a pretty nice ending, and literally very pretty. whee. rather philosophical too, so i took a while before i managed to get head or tail of the ending...
okay, i even re-watched fushigi yuugi. that is a surprise. i din exactly like that show, but Hotohori was very very very very charming and rather comical too. hoho. re-kindled crush on him.

o vell, i even watched Princee Mononoke again, after trying to compare it with Howl's Moving Castle. i still think Princess Mononoke as the best of all the movies produced. the storyline is much nicer...and don't u think that the male main character finally has more use in the plot itself? like Spirited Away, The Cat Returns and Howl's Moving Castle has the female character dominating the plots. not that i'm complaing or anything, but don't ya think the guys are a little unappreciated? i guess that's why i prefer Princess Mononoke was more appealing?!

whoots. and i've just added two new gundams to my tiny collection. so now i have Strike Launcher, Providence Gundam, Freedom Gundam and the two newest, Saviour Gundam and Justice Gundam. i was hoping to get the Akatsuki and Legend Gundam. i don't think Impluse or Destiny are a great deal, coz both look just like Strike, which is sooo not original. all three have white, red and blue...so boring, i mean like, think more creative, like the Providence or the Legend. other than just trying to add butterfly wings to it...dots. kk. well, i'm not saying that Athrun's gundam have much of a change, but then, it's the same pilot mah, so mus have the same characteristics mah, otherwise ppl will get confused mahs...now Shinn and Kira have identical gundams...that's pure boring...hohoho. o well, i shall go now, until the next manga appears. hoh. ja ne!!

wahhh...why does Skip Beat only have 11 books??!! i thought it was already at 20 plus...now i have to wait while the author continues...bk 11 has such a cliffhanger, i've dropped off the cliff long long ago...bahs. everything is so stagnant now...bahs, i'm dying from all the cliffhangers...Bleach has one too in 21, Naruto too coz my uncle hasnt given me the next disc, Genbu Kaiden is gonna take a long time again, aiya, just everything lah. bah. only Spiral and Gundam SEED Destiny has completed their runs. hmph. piss me off.

how the heck am i supposed to survive not knowing whether Ren did act out his part or not. k, fine, mayb i already know the answer to that, scrap that. how am i supposed to survive not seeing new picture of Ren? now that is real. dots. he looks sooo much like Aoshi. haha, mayb not. arh...i'm drying up. i'm dying. i'm dead. everything is just killing me! bah.
